Fibertek is now actively recruiting for a Senior Laser Technician to join our solid-state laser development staff in Herndon, Virginia.

Job Overview:

Provide hands-on laboratory support in the assembly, alignment, integration and test of
solid-state laser systems under limited supervision.

General Duties:

• Build and alignment of laser resonators / amplifiers and complex optical components
• Performance characterization and formal testing of laser systems
• Troubleshoot performance issues in resolution of opto-mechanical problems
• Support the development of manufacturing processes for new products
• General management of laboratories and equipment

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with the build and testing of optical assemblies and laser resonators
• Working knowledge of laser laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, optical power meters, laser beam analyzers, and laser drive electronics
• General understanding of geometrical optics, laser design and laser safety
• Ability to work with mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams
• Minimum 5 years in the laser R&D or manufacturing fields
• Associate Degree in laser technology or related field
• U.S. citizenship is required
