Fiber Laser Engineer/Scientist - 2 Positions

Fibertek is now actively recruiting for a Senior Laser Technician to join our solid-state
laser development staff in Herndon, Virginia.
Job Overview:
Provide technical leadership and hands-on experimental support to research and development programs in fiber-laser/amplifier systems for military and aerospace application. As needed, also provide assistance to other laser & electro-optic R&D programs.
General Duties:
• Contribute to and/or coordinate the design, R&D and verification efforts for various fiber laser/ amplifier programs for military, aerospace and space application
• Contribute to developing a systematic design and implementation approach for above efforts
• Coordinate with other engineers (mechanical, electronics, software) to develop overall system
• Support strategic program development efforts (e.g. technical contribution on proposals)
• Coordinate/Interface with vendors for specialized procurement, quality and supply-chain issues
• Participate in formal customer interactions, e.g. design reviews, ATP, integration testing, etc.
Qualifications:
• Hands-on experience in design, assembly, test/troubleshoot of high-power fiber laser/amplifiers, supported by publication record and/or product design & development experience.
• Fundamental understanding of laser engineering and electro-optics
• Knowledge of the industry and advances in the area of fiber lasers & amplifiers (non-telecom)
• Self-directed individual, with good oral and written communication skills
• Proven skills or capable of working/leading in a high-paced integrated product team environment
• Minimum 5 years (beyond degree) in laser engineering/development, preferred with a product or system focus in fiber-lasers/amplifiers
• M.S. degree (Ph.D. desired) in related engineering discipline, or in Physics/Optics
• US Citizenship is a must.
