Awarded Air Force Phase I SBIR Contract
|
|
Fibertek, Inc. has been awarded a
Phase I Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Contract by the US
Air Force for a Multi-Function Laser Radar (LADAR) for Rotorcraft
Brownout and Cable Warning/Obstacle Avoidance.
Under the Phase I program, Fibertek will review available data relating to the operation of a 1.5µm laser in a Degraded Visual Environment (DVE), including a review of Air Force, DARPA, US Army, and internal sources of data. A review of the platform Concept of Operations will be completed to determine required wire detection range, field of view, field of regard and warning time. Ladar performance requirements and specifications will be drafted prior to initiating a preliminary design. Specifications will include detection range, target size, target reflectivity, atmospheric transmission, operation in degraded visual conditions, sensor size, weight, and power consumption, operational environment and other relevant specifications. Existing ladar equipment will be used to collect radiometric data on receiver response to DVE backscatter conditions. The data will be used as part of system design trades and performance analysis. Design trades will be performed on the system and subsystem level. Updated concepts for pilot display and symbology will be presented |
